End the exclusions!
Farmworkers and domestic workers rallied together in Albany's West Capitol Park on May 20, 2008 for equal protections under NYS labor laws. Many carried signs created by participants at the "Full Circle for Economic Justice" conference on May 18-19. They were joined by AFL-CIO President John Sweeney, NYS AFL-CIO President Denis Hughes, Assembly Labor Committee Chair Susan John and NYS Senator John Flannigan, sponsor of S3884, the Farmworkers Fair Labor Practices Act. The federal case of farmworker slavery in western New York is
ample proof that farmworkers are vulnerable. The New York State Senate and the Governor have consistently refused farmworkers their dignity and their equality. They refuse to pass legislation that removes all of the
legislative exclusions that deny farmworkers equality.
