What can you do?

Pray, fast and work for justice

Bring this 40-hour FAST brochure to your local congregation, school or workplace. Help educate others about these issues. When you contribute to local food programs, be sure to ask officials why people are hungry in New York state. Click for the brochure in English or in Spanish (poster side and mailer side). Adobe Reader is necessary to open these pdf brochures.

Remember that a budget is a moral document

Follow the Federal and New York state budget deliberations; learn where the money goes and who benefits. Make at least one phone call, to both federal and state legislators, calling for funding for services for the poor and low-income workers.

Work for justice for NY’s farmworkers

In past years, the 40-hour FAST has helped to win drinking water and sanitation facilities for farmworkers. Now it’s time they gain the same protections offered to all other workers in our state.

Refuse to believe that poverty and hunger are inevitable

Follow your conscience and demand a change in our country’s and our state’s priorities—from bloated increases for the wealthiest, to support for budget and tax policies that help families escape the poverty that imprisons them. Support workers’ right to organize which historically has ensured improved working conditions and a better life for them and their families.
